How we compared
The home page sets Overqualified beside 27 other job-search products, grouped by category. This is how that comparison was made.
What we compared
27 products that a job seeker in the United States or France might weigh against Overqualified, in five categories: job boards and networks (9), public and non-profit services (3), AI job search (4), auto-appliers (5) and résumé, tracking and interview tools (6). A category with a single product is left out.
Each product was asked the same thirteen questions. The table on the home page shows eleven of them; the other two, the size of its job pool and its price, are left out (see below). Answers are for the job seeker’s side only: a feature sold to recruiters is described in our notes but not credited.
How we read
For every product and every question we read public sources. Most answers rest on the product’s own pages: its help centre, product pages, terms and filings. Some rest on the press or on review sites, and our notes mark which. Each answer is tied to the source it came from and the day it was read, and we send the list of sources on request. Every source was read again on the date at the top of this page; where a site refused automated reading, its answers keep their earlier reading, and that line says how many.
What each answer means
- Documented: a source we read shows the product doing it.
- Partly documented: it does part of it, or only as a human service. A feature on a paid plan counts the same as a free one.
- Not documented: no source we read shows it, or a source says it is absent or shows it getting it wrong. On its own it never means the product cannot do it; it means we found no evidence that it does.
Our own column
Our column says what Overqualified is built to do. In France it fills in an application form and you send it yourself. The column comes from our own code and plans, not from a third party, so read it as our claim about ourselves.
What we left out
Product names, until counsel has reviewed a named comparison. Prices, user counts, ratings, reviews and complaints. The size of each product’s job pool: several of them search far more jobs than we do.
Where others lead
Professional networks and warm introductions, relationships with employers, years of users, phone apps, and larger job pools at several products. The comparison covers what a product shows you about a job and does for you, not everything that makes a product worth using.
